Trout fishing at “Hondón Trucha”, unique in the province of Alicante and the Communidad Valencia.

The artificial fishing lake is situated 15 kilometers from Elche (ELX in the valencian lenguage) and 20 minutes from the Alicante Airport.  The little village of Hondon de las Nieves on the foot of the Sierra de Crevillente is the perfect environment for the lake. As it lies 400 meters above sea level, the temperature is approx. 5°C lower than on the coast. In wintertime we even have frost during the night. This means that during most parts of the year trout  fishing in possible. During the summer  the temperature of the water is too high for trout, so we close the fishing season. 

¨Hondon Trucha¨ is complete fenced and we have our own car park, so it is a SAFE place to fish, specially  for individual anglers.

“Hondón Trucha” lies in walking distance from the village and for example on  Wednesday or Saturday your partner can visit the local market or buy some wine in our local bodegas while you are fishing. For those who want to fish a bit longer, or who just want to visit the valley for a few days,  we offer the possibility to put your tent or caravan on our plot. Our lake is approx. 60 x 45 meters, surrounded with artificial grass and easy to reach. Also suitable for disabled anglers.

Refreshments are available from our canteen, but you are welcome to bring your own. Outside the canteen we have some marble tables, giving you a beautiful view of the lake and the village. This is also the barbeque zone for the afternoon reservations for the lake.  

Trout fishing is all action. You must entice the fish to bite and this is only possible by searching constantly for the right bait.

Trout fishing with fly, floater  or spinner;  in all  ways you have to remain active. Trout  fishing is relaxing. Nobody cares what you have or what you are: you are an angler. After a good morning fishing you can go to restaurant TRENCACLOSQUES in the village square, where they prepare your just caught trout in a few ways.

To those who are not familiar with trout fishing Jan is willing to explain how to do it. Everyone who likes to fish or just wants to have a look, is welcome.
